System Configuration Analysis for Abaqus 6.8

We know that it is sometimes difficult to locate all the pertinent information about an existing computer when contemplating the purchase or upgrade of software. You need the host ID to request a license key. You want to know if you need to upgrade your operating system to run the new products. Will you need different compilers? Does your system have enough memory?

The programs available for download from this page have been designed to aid in the comparison of a current system and the system requirements for Abaqus. If you already have Abaqus loaded on the computer you can get the same information using the command:

abaqus info=system

If you would like to verify the configuration of your own computer, select the appropriate platform from the table below. Click on the platform name and download the file indicated from the window that appears. The files can be placed in any directory where you have full access.

Platform Filename
Windows/x86-32 sysinfo.zip
Windows/x86-64 sysinfo.zip
Linux/x86-32 sysinfo.tar.gz
Linux/x86-64 sysinfo.tar.gz
Linux/Itanium sysinfo.tar.gz
HP-UX/Itanium sysinfo.tar.Z
AIX/Power sysinfo.tar.Z

On UNIX platforms uncompress and untar the downloaded file. Change directories to the sysinfo directory, then execute the file sysinfo.csh, as follows:

     uncompress sysinfo.tar.Z
     tar -xvf sysinfo.tar
     cd sysinfo
     ./sysinfo.csh
On Linux platforms download the file sysinfo.tar.gz, expand it and untar it. Change directories to the sysinfo directory, then execute the file sysinfo.csh, as follows:
     gunzip sysinfo.tar.gz
     tar -xvf sysinfo.tar
     cd sysinfo
     ./sysinfo.csh

On Windows platforms download the file sysinfo.zip and expand it using WinZip by double-click the file icon in the Explorer. In a command window, set you current directory to the sysinfo directory and run the sysinfo.bat file, as follows:

     cd sysinfo
     sysinfo
If you do not have a version of WinZip one can be downloaded from the WinZip homepage.

The sysinfo programs use various system commands to extract information from your computer. The information available to users with no special access privilege is extracted; commands that require special (root) privilege to extract information are not included. The programs were developed for English-based operating systems. If you installed your operating system in a language other than English, some of the information may not be retrievable.

After running the program, you should have a report similar to the following. Compare this report to the system requirements for Abaqus 6.8 to determine whether modifications to your computer might be needed.

Running system configuration checks for Linux/x86-32.
