Five tables presented in the window below provide system requirements for each Abaqus platform. The selected platform tab is highlighted with dark blue.

  • General Requirements are minimum requirements applicable for all Abaqus products and features.
  • Additional Requirements are extra requirements needed for specific Abaqus products and features.
Specifications for Tier 1 test configurations are listed in the General Requirements and Additional Requirements tables.
  • Additional Test Configurations
Tier 2 configurations are additional test configurations representing supported variations from the Tier 1 configuration.

Explanations of Table Contents and Terminology

The system requirements for each Abaqus platform are displayed in the frame above by clicking the colored platform tabs at the top of the table. System requirements include hardware, operating system versions, and any other tools required to run Abaqus. General Requirements are the minimum system requirements which are necessary to utilize any Abaqus product or feature supported on this platform; however the minimum requirements are not sufficient to support all Abaqus products or capabilities. Additional Requirements, beyond the General Requirements are necessary for specific Abaqus products and features. Additional Requirements must be met only if you want to use the specific Abaqus product or feature associated with the requirement.

The Additional Test Configurations list a “Targeted version” when the system configurations are scheduled to be tested and supported with Abaqus Version 6.6. The "Targeted Version" indicates either the version of Abaqus with which a particular configuration has been successfully tested or the targeted version by which testing is expected to be completed. While all attempts are made to successfully qualify a configuration by the targeted releases, unforeseen circumstances may force testing completion to a later release or in extreme cases may lead to certain configurations being dropped. Supported platforms and configurations are subject to change without notice.

The various configurations on each supported platform undergo different levels of QA testing. Some configurations undergo full QA testing, referred to as Tier 1 testing. Other configurations undergo a subset of Tier 1 testing, which is designated as Tier 2 testing. For configurations that have undergone Tier 2 testing, only the variations with respect to the Tier 1 test configuration are listed in the additional test configurations section. Variations include items such as OS level, compilers, or the  Interconnect for DMP. These additional test configurations do not require new Abaqus CDs to support them. They are tested using the same Abaqus CD used for Tier 1 testing on the corresponding Abaqus platform. All configurations listed are fully supported, irrespective of whether a configuration has undergone Tier 1 or Tier 2 testing.
