Defense Systems

The defense industry refers to a wide range of products, large and small – from support vehicles, submarines, and aircraft carriers to armored vests, artillery, and munitions. The simulation tasks necessary to design these products include many disciplines and domains.

Most of these tasks require realistic simulation on an intensive level including assembly, nonlinear material response, fluid-structure interaction, and other Multiphysics simulations at both the component and system level.

Typical analyses include static and dynamic operational loadings, thermal analysis, and investigations into stresses, fatigue, and durability. It is also important to perform coupled simulations including Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI), mechanism-stress coupled simulations, and thermal-structural analysis.
