TORX PLUS® Drive System
Advanced Simulation and Consulting Services
One of the significant advantages of the TORX PLUS drive system is its ability to transfer significant torque loads to the fastener without stripping the fastener or camming out of the drive bit.
To highlight these advantages, SIMULIA was retained to conduct a series of comparative analyses between the Torx drive and a standard Phillips screw driver. Employing side-by-side simulation, the advantages and disadvantages of one over the other is clear.
In this extreme example, a torque of 50 N-m was applied to a drive bit without failure of the fastener, although significant permanent deformation is quite evident. The analysis, conducted with Abaqus/Standard, was verified with laboratory tests.
