Recognized as one of the world's fuel efficiency leaders, Honda has developed the gasoline-electric Insight hybrid which has received many awards for its innovative use of technology, not the least of which has been its continuously variable transmission (CVT).

To meet Honda's requirements in support of CVT simulations and designs, SIMULIA service engineers collaborated with engineers at Honda's Tochigi R&D Center. They developed a method to predict durability and built a system for design engineers that facilitated decisions making for new CVT configurations and designs.

This custom application enables design engineers to conduct effective trade-off evaluations of new design scenarios without having to learn the advanced mechanics that powered it.
