Rolling bearings are sophisticated, precise machine parts that provide exceptional load bearing capacity. Their proper use requires a precise analysis of the load distribution within the entire elastic system. Adapting the best rolling bearing in specific machine applications while meeting short design cycles requires a close connection between the design and consultant engineers.

INA, a leading producer of roller bearings, linear guides, and hydraulic and mechanical valve train components, needed a rapid design analysis capability for a special type of bearings known as slewing rings. SIMULIA worked with INA to develop a workflow automation system to meet their needs.

The Abaqus/CAE-based system integrates INA's proprietary BEARINX® internal design system with many advanced capabilities in Abaqus/Standard, which were defined collaboratively with INA. Once analyses are run, key results are fed back into BEARINX® to provide additional knowledge for future applications. The closed loop integration between Abaqus/CAE and BEARINX® is provided via XML.

The combination of the Abaqus-powered DreVA system and BEARINX® considerably reduces time-to-market while ensuring we deliver the outstanding quality INA customers have come to expect.
