Durability by Design: Introduction to fe-safe™ and Verity® in fe-safe™
This free one day seminar is designed to illustrate problems that can now be solved
using durability analysis software for FEA models. A technology update
in key areas of fatigue analysis such as multiaxial fatigue, effects of
temperature, notch sensitivity and residual stresses will be provided.
Verity®: This revolutionary structural stress method developed by Battelle
has won several prestigious industry awards. Professor Draper will give
an overview of the method and show its advantages in terms of accuracy
and ease of application. Click here
for further details on Verity®.
Who should attend:
Design and test engineers responsible for product durability in the ground
vehicle, aerospace and manufacturing industries interested in durability
analysis and fatigue of welded structures. No previous knowledge of fatigue
is necessary.
Agenda
- Why traditional methods of metal fatigue analysis get it wrong
- Introduction to modern methods of metal fatigue analysis and why they
get it right
- Theoretical overview of uniaxial and multiaxial fatigue and their
benefits
- Introduction to Verity®
- Introduction to using fe-safe™ and the Verity® module with FEA software

Presenters
Professor John Draper
Professor John Draper of Safe Technology has over 25 years experience in fatigue design and fatigue life assessment in the aerospace and ground-vehicle industries. He is a recognized authority in the industry, and a regular presenter at conferences and seminars worldwide - Including conferences for ABAQUS and ANSYS users around the world, the ASTM Symposium on Residual Stress Effects on Fatigue and Fracture Testing, and more. Professor Draper is a former Chairman of the Engineering Integrity Society in the UK, and a member of the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers).
Dr Radwan Hazime
Dr Radwan Hazime is the Technical Manager for Safe Technology US. He completed his PhD at Northeastern University in high temperature deformation and fracture, and was previously employed with Ford Powertrain for eight years.
As an Analytical Powertrain Technical Expert at Ford, Dr Hazime has extensive experience in thermo-mechanical fatigue, CAE durability method development and FE modeling. He won several awards during his time at Ford and has published a number of papers as well as being a regular presenter at SAE and other international conferences. He is also a certified 6-sigma black belt specializing in DFSS and Analytical Reliability and Robustness. His role as DFSS black belt included the development, deployment, and teaching of state-of-the-art tools used for robust design and multi-objective optimization.
He has been recognized by the International Quality and Productivity Center for his work in this area. Dr Hazime has also taught college level engineering courses and conducted research in the Engineering Departments at Northeastern University and The University of Arizona.
