SIMULIA Direct Coupling
The SIMULIA Direct Coupling Interface is a key component of the SIMULIA multiphysics platform, allowing us to couple SIMULIA simulation products with each other, with partner products, or with customer-developed software codes. This approach provides direct coupling for cases where customers request a deep, direct link to Abaqus without intervening software.
The number of direct coupling co-simulation partnerships is growing and will continue to grow in the near future.
The Fluid-Structure Interactions (FSI) enabled through the Direct Coupling Interface (DCI) are primarily qualified and supported by the relevant partners, with SIMULIA providing back-up assistance as necessary. In Abaqus 6.9 DCI-enabled couplings with Abaqus include:
Additionally, vehicle occupant safety crash simulations can be conducted using the DCI-enabled coupling of Abaqus/Explicit and MADYMO. This coupling is actively qualified and supported by SIMULIA and TASS.
MADYMO from TASS
Co-simulation with MADYMO
This add-on analysis capability for Abaqus/Explicit can be used to perform vehicle-occupant crash safety simulations by coupling Abaqus/Explicit with MADYMO. The co-simulation technique can now be used to solve a crash safety simulation by directly coupling Abaqus/Explicit with the occupant simulation program MADYMO. For a crash safety simulation, the vehicle is modeled using Abaqus/Explicit and the occupant or the pedestrian is modeled using MADYMO. The Abaqus User's Guide for Crash Safety Simulation Using Abaqus/Explicit and MADYMO is available via the SIMULIA Online Support System (SOSS).
