External Inverstion of Circular Tube: Effect of Die Radius under Dynamic Loading

Mohd Rozaiman B. Aziz
Naval Post Graduate School, USA

The tube was compressed onto 4 types of die radius, which was 3 mm, 5 mm, 7 mm and 10 mm under dynamic loading. The simulation time period was set to 1x10 -3 s. As a result, the maximum displacement of a tube increases with decrease of the radius of the inverting die as shown in the image. It is due to the greater meridional bending caused by dies of smaller radius.
