What are tokens?
Abaqus is licensed using a token based system.  The types of tokens that you license will determine which Abaqus products can be accessed by your users, as well as how many simultaneous users have access.   A shared pool of analysis tokens is both flexible and powerful, providing access to Abaqus/Standard and Abaqus/Explicit. Interactive Tokens (Abaqus/CAE or Abaqus for CATIA) provide for preprocessing and results evaluation. Your local office can help you decide on the best combination of tokens for your requirements.

How do I obtain the Abaqus Site ID?

How do I find my Host ID?
The Host ID is the Mac Address (not IP address) of the computer where you are installing the FlexNET License Manager.

Is support included with the Academic software?
The Academic Software is substantially discounted and does not include ongoing support.  Installation support is provided for 30 days following your license start date.  Technical support for other issues is available for a nominal fee.

Is training available for academic users?
Regularly scheduled introductory and advanced courses are offered at many office locations.  Contact your local support office to find out about discounted rates for students and professors.

How can I receive updates to the Program?
Institutions receive the most current version upon the start or renewal of the license. Versions released during the licensing year are subject to an administrative fee and can be ordered by contacting your licensing office.

I recently purchased a new computer.  Will I need a new license key?
If you change your license server, you will need to contact your licensing office and request a new license key.  You will need to provide your Site ID and host id for the new computer.  This may be subject to an administrative fee.

What kind of computer do you recommend for Abaqus?
We are not able to recommend specific computer hardware and platforms.  We do, however, make information available to help you decide the best hardware for your application.

Is  Abaqus available via "Electronic Software Delivery" (ESD)?
Abaqus software is not downloadable at this time.  An Abaqus CD media set will be shipped by courier as soon as your purchase order, signed academic software license agreement, and server Host ID have been received.

When will my license period start?
Our policy is to begin the license period once the software and license key have been delivered to provide for a full year of Abaqus use.

What are the Academic Terms of Use?
Acceptable use of Abaqus Academic Licenses is governed by the Software License Agreement, which must be signed by a representative of the Institution.

Abaqus Teaching Edition(s) are for classroom and instructional teaching purposes only and shall not be used for academic research.

The Abaqus Research Edition is for research purposes and may also be used for instructional teaching. Results from work done with Abaqus Research Edition must reference Abaqus and be made publicly available. No Abaqus academic programs may be used for any consulting work generating commercial fees. Short term commercial license are available to Abaqus Research Edition licensees.
