Superplastic forming (SPF) is a near-net shape forming process that is widely used in aerospace applications. The main objective of this research is to simulate and optimize the SPF process by developing new and creative techniques that help in overcoming its current limitations and facilitating its use in high volume application. Using the Abaqus FEA product suite, the FE code is used to study the effectiveness of the new proposed techniques in a cost effective manner. The main reason for choosing this code is that it has an extensive library of subroutines that can be used to define the material, interface and element behavior.
