An Object-Oriented Modeling Frame for Simulation of interfacial Degradation of Cyclically Loaded Structures

Dan Cojocaru and Anette M. Karlsson
University of Delaware, USA

Using Abaqus Scripting interface and Abaqus/Standard, we created an object-oriented modeling frame for simulating two-dimensional structures under cyclic thermo-mechanical loads. This modeling frame assumes the domain being analyzed is described as a set of continua and interfaces in a fully parametric manner. Further, the FE model is generated automatically in Abaqus/CAE and a user prescribed number of loading cycles is simulated. After each cycle the interfaces are investigated and the FE model is updated, thus the degradation of interfaces can be simulated. The user can implement interfacial degradation criteria using any variable available in the FE model.
