Analysing FE Models of A Series of Laser-Welded Lap-Joints, to Compute Its Fracture Strength

We are trying to come up with a mathematical model, based on our FE analyses results, which will provide us the load carrying capacity of any laser-welded lap-joint configuration. We are applying fracture mechanics concepts, considering the non-welded overlap as cracks. We have an extensive mesh (about 500,000 elements) in each assembly/model. We are using contact surfaces.
