Modeling of Randomly Filled Particulate Composite used as Restorative Material in Dentistry

Keya Sadeghipour
Temple University

A systematic approach was developed to create unit cells for the study of composites with randomly distributed reinforcing particles. Random particle distributions are generated using the Monte Carlo method, and high filler volume content was made possible by introducing a relaxation method. Unit cell sizes for different filler contents were determined. The random unit cell was employed to study elastic properties, stress concentrations, the constitutive relationship, and the effect of polymerization shrinkage on elasto-plastic behavior of the composite.
