Simulate the Behavior of An insulating Mat Material for Use in A Catalytic Converter

The project I am working on is using the Abaqus FEA product suite to simulate the behavior of an insulating mat material for use in a catalytic converter. The mat material is a nonlinear material exhibiting viscoelastic behavior. Currently, physical testing is being performed to characterize the mat material. The properties discovered in the testing will be used in a model. The model has been developed using gasket elements to represent the mat material. The Abaqus FEA product suite was chosen and used for its ability to handle nonlinear material. Three models were developed, each with more progressive difficulty.
